Web Design

I have built websites with both Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft FrontPage these are the two leading packages on the market. My idea is that MS FrontPage is ideal for beginners as it provides so much help and templates, then you should move to Dreamweaver if you want to take it further.

Macromedia Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver is the choice of the professionals it has a large range of functions and tools which will enable you to build the most intricate of web sites. However you may find that it is a steep learning curve. Its taken me a long while to learn the basics of this sophisticated program, and I can still feel a little lost at times.

Microsoft Front Page

The interface, like so many of Microsoft's products, will be familiar to you. The application has a similar look and feel to MS Word, or PowerPoint. Navigation is not difficult, and menus are in all the old familiar places. Sites produced by Front Page look best viewed in Internet Explorer 5 and above, viewing by Opera or Netscape may produce differing results. This should not be much of a worry for most sites as 95% of all users on the Internet use Microsoft Internet Explorer.
